Unlikely Hero

Matti Harrold, a midlevel NSA analyst, was as unlikely a hero as anyone. The vice president is dead after a long illness. Now, the president had died unexpectedly from an aneurysm before his selection for replacement vice president could be sworn in. A secret group wants to seize this opportunity to change the course of history and have their choice installed as the next president by any means possible. And, Matti has been tasked with investigating this group.

Abrahams first novel in A Political Conspiracy series, Sedition, is full of political intrigue. It’s a fast-paced thriller which brings into question the constitutionality of having the Speaker of the House as next in line for the presidency following behind the vice president. The story is well written and has several twists to keep your interest.

The battle between the vice president nominee and the Speaker for the presidency is fascinating from a historical perspective. The Speaker being a woman adds another dimension. Having a secret society stirring the pot only deepens the plot. I enjoyed this book and certainly look forward to the next in this series.

5 out of 5 stars.
